CINEC Maritime Campus, IT Park, Millennium Drive, Malabe, Sri Lanka

Doctor Lalith Edirisinghe was born in Sri Lanka on the 16th of January 1961. He studied Science and Mathematics at the Ananda College Colombo, Sri Lanka. In 1981 he joined the Merchant Navy of Sri Lanka as a Cadet officer. In 2010 he pursued his Postgraduate studies in Business Management from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka with a distinction pass. Later in 2013, he explored the global essence of postgraduate education at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka thus perusing a Master of Business Administration Degree in International Trade and Logistics in collaboration with the University of Canberra, Australia. In 2016, he obtained his Doctor of Engineering Degree major in Transportation planning and Logistics Management offered by Dalian Maritime University, Dalian, China. During this period in Dalian he was teaching maritime management, dangerous goods handling and container control. He has also obtained the certificate of the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code from the North West Kent College in the United Kingdom in 2009.

His PhD research was on container inventory imbalance and it was concerned with the absence of collaboration in liner shipping which is a global issue that results loss of billions of dollars every year and huge environmental hazard. Dalian Maritime University commenced education partnership with Sri Lanka campus namely CINEC Maritime campus in 2005. Doctor Lalith Edirisinghe became the most crucial contact point in the higher education sector between China and Sri Lanka due to this partnership. At present he is the in charge of undergraduate, Master and PhD programs conducted by Dalian Maritime University in Sri Lanka. With the affiliation in the transport and logistics sector he set up a goal to make “logistics” a subject in the school curriculum. He took the leadership, with the blessings of the management of CINEC Maritime Campus, in popularizing Logistics education in Sri Lanka through awareness programs in schools, PR articles, seminars, Interschools Quiz competitions, Essay competitions, inter university competitions etc. he was the project chairman of the first ever National Logistics Awards conducted in Sri Lanka.
